Intro to Digital Photography is designed for both inexperienced and seasoned photographers to learn some of the fundamentals that make a good photo. It covers both elementary theory and technique, through demonstration and hands-on exercises using Nikon Digital SLR cameras and a variety of accessories.

Photoshop for Digital Photographers teaches you some of the methods and tools that professional photographers use to improve the look of their photos. The workshop covers correction, enhancement, and presentation techniques through demonstration and hands-on experimentation.
Objectives:

- learn the most useful elements of the complex Photoshop interface for a digital photographer
- overview of shooting and editing RAW images

- 10/26 - Lighting Experiments Workshop
The Lighting Experiments Workshop exposes users to different methods for lighting their subjects. Users will gain hands-on knowledge to studio strobe lights, speed lights, a ring light, and several light modifiers.

- understand how and when to use a light meter
- learn to deconstruct an image to determine lighting used

- 10/26 - Studio Lighting and Stock Photography Workshop
The Studio Lighting and Stock Photography Workshop is an opportunity for student photographers to work with student models in learning to refine their studio portraiture photography. In exchange for free portraits, student models will be available at the second half of the workshop for photographers to shoot them in a classroom setting for stock purposes.
Student models will get a copy of any photos containing them for their portfolio/self promotion, while photographers will retain the image rights.
Free pizza and sodas are available for participants!
Objectives:
- learn to compose a good portrait
- understand framing and lighting options
- provide an opportunity student models to get headshots and portraits in exchange for helping out student photographers
- learn hands-on about shooting stock photography

- 10/27 - Sunrise Photo Shoot on the Water
The Sunrise Photo Shoot on the Water historically has been a golden opportunity to photograph the Chester River at one of the best times of the year. Sunrise is always a good time to shoot, but mixing a cool morning in the fall on the water often provides serene fog banks at a time when waterfowl are starting to congregate.
Photographers will be able to get up close and personal with nature with the use of the pontoon boat and zoom lenses.
Seating is limited on the pontoon boat, so don't delay in reserving your spot!
Objectives:
- learn techniques for shooting in low light conditions and from a moving platform
- learn technoques for photographing wildlife from a distance
- get an opportunity to shoot the Chester River at one of the most photogenic times of the year

- 10/27 - Wildlife and Sunset Photo Shoot at Eastern Neck Island Wildlife Refuge
Our afternoon Wildlife and Sunset Photo Shoot at Eastern Neck Island Wildlife Refuge will give students an opportunity to use both available light and battery powered strobes in capturing both landscape an macro wildlife shots. The setting sun over the water with anticipated water fowl will provide georgeous shooting opportunities, weather permitting. Travel time to the reserve is about 30 minutes.
Seating is limited in the van, so don't relay in reserving your spot!
Objectives:
- learn macro wildlife photography techniques
- learn the use of reflectors and strobes to increase shutter speed of fast moving subjects
- learn techniques for shooting long exposures during sunsets and twilight

- 10/27 - Sports Photography Workshop - Men's Soccer vs Johns Hopkins
The Sports Photography Workshop will provide students with tips and techniques for photographing high actions events in low light conditions. Shooting the WC Men's Soccer VS. Johns Hopkins, participants will have access to the track around the game, as well as opportunites to shoot from the bleachers.
Objectives:
- learn to optimize your camera settings for high action under low light
- learn how to shoot photos that could be used by College Relations on the web and in print.

Another opportunity to get out and shoot Chestertown's waterfront, the Sunset Photo Shoot on the Water coincides with the Sultana Project's Downrigging Weekend Festivities, promising photo opportunities of several large schooners and other sailing vessels and work boats.

The last event of the Photography Marathon for 2007, our Night Photo Shoot of the Sultana Downrigging Festivities from Land will teach photographers the nuances of shooting in very low light conditions through use of a tripod. Learn factors that affect the outcome in these long exposure shooting situations.
